Our goal is for every content on Food Makies platform to be practical, helpful, and engaging without wasting the reader’s time. Your submitted content MUST meet the following requirement. Your content:

  • Must be shared as a Google Doc
  • Must have a friendly and engaging tone of voice. It should read like you are talking directly to the reader about the subject matter. (in first person, not third)
  • Must be in Australian English for people living in Australia
  • Actively seek feedback: You must actively seek back from your readers by encouraging them to comment, ask questions or make suggestions about other topics they would like you to address.
  • Must not be time-wasting: No fluffs. Our readers have competing priorities. Focus on quality, not quantity.. Tell readers what your content is about, deliver your content succinctly and summarise all you have said at the end.
  • Proofread your article for grammatical errors, sentence structure, and quality and fact check on your statements;
  • Please include a minimum of 3 photos and as required to illustrate sub-topics in the body of the text. Photos must be yours or appropriately credited;
  • Use Australian references and links. Where practicable
  • Refrain from using a sales pitch in your content. The primary goal should be to assist readers in resolving any issues they may have. While it is acceptable to recommend a product or service as a solution, direct selling is not allowed. Such products or services must be accessible to Australian readers.
  • If you are selling a product or service, it is recommended that you include a bio with links to your social media accounts and blog. This will be added at the end of the article, allowing readers to easily access your online presence and learn more about your offerings.
  • When submitting content, keep in mind that our editors may edit it for grammar in order to adhere to our Editorial Policy.

Our editorial team review your work and suggest edits where necessary. We do not accept plagiarised content. We will only publish your article if it has not been published elsewhere. Our editorial review process currently takes around 1-2 weeks. Once an editor approves your content, we will post your content and notify you.

We encourage everyone to post under their real name, which will help you grow your confidence in food writing. However, if you don’t want your name published, we can post under a pseudonym, keeping your identity anonymous.
